OpenClassroom is an affordable server that sits in the classroom, lab, or school and is targeted at grades 5 – 12. It combines learning management tools, collaborative software and personal storage space to support the development of 21st century skills and learning. Two server models plus a cloud version are available. The class server handles up to 200 students and the school server handles 1000 students.
OpenClassroom delivers a suite of web 2.0 applications to facilitate safe, private collaboration and communication, and operates in a networked environment from any browser-based device without requiring an open Internet connection, hence there are no issues of safety and bandwidth.
OpenClassroom provides:
- Safe & effective collaborative writing
- Personal and group journals
- Collaboration on assignments using the Discussion Forums, Wikis and Blogs
- Calendar for daily assignments posted by the teacher
- Wireless send and receive assignments from school and/or home thus enabling a single spot for storage, grading and managing of class work
- Send and receive messages from the teacher using the Messages feature
- Quizzes that are automatically scored and can be exported to grade book program
